Account Security & Safety
It's recommended to keep your account safe, our team has created this article to assist in account security. Please look at the details below.
It's important to know the ways on keeping all your associated accounts safe from bad-actors. We've been experiencing high reports of malicious activities regarding nitro links through users direct messages. If you get a direct message from a user, please block them as these users may attempt to steal your personal information or even your Discord/Roblox accounts.
How can I protect myself?
In this category, you will find some of the ways to protect yourself from malicious links and what to do when you click on one of them.
- Keeping your Direct Messages Off: You should keep your direct messages off on both Roblox and Discord. Only allow those you know from real-life or that you truly trust with your messages. Closing your direct messages is one of the safest and easiest way to be on Discord. It protects yourself and those who you associate with. You don't want to keep on adding users you don't know as you might not be aware of their intentions.
- Accepting Friend Requests: You want to keep those on your contacts relatively small and only to those who you communicate with. Some people might be your "friend" just to pose harm to you and steal and compromise your account since you might trust them.
- Checking Links & Legitimacy: If you see a suspicious link, you shouldn't click it. These websites with these fake links will often try to steal your cookies and access both your Roblox and Discord accounts, and accounts associated with your email. You should also avoid websites that are claiming to offer "Free Robux" or "Free Nitro," or generally anything free. These websites will steal your account.
- Adding Two Step Verification (2SV): Adding Two Step is the best way to keep your accounts safe from bad actors who attempt to access your account. The actor cannot access your account without receiving the six digit code from your email.
DO NOT SHARE THE CODE OR EMAIL WITH OTHERS INCLUDING FRIENDS OR SIBLINGS! YOU CAN GET HACKED/COMPROMISED.
- Using Authenticator Apps: This is even better than using Two Step Verification on your account. This feature allows your account to have a higher layer of security which prevents bad actors from accessing your account.
On Roblox, you can use Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and Twilio Authy
On Discord, you can find information on how to enable Two-Factor Authentication by visiting Discord's Help Article.
- Passwords: You should always use a password that is special to you and will be hard to guess. You should avoid passwords that contain personal information, like your name, location or family relatives name.
- Sharing Passwords: You should always avoid sharing passwords, even if it's your own sibling. You should keep your password to yourself like it's your own diary. You should be reminded that both Roblox Customer Support, Administrators and Discord Trust & Safety would NEVER ask for your password or personal information.
